Olive trees play an important role in Greece's social and economic life as they are trees that can be fully utilized. Olive tree wood is used as fuel, raw material for the manufacturing of various articles and tools and a fundamental component of wood supports, roofs, floors and doors

 
 
Location
The village of Eggares is on the western part of Naxos Island, at a 7km distance to the north of CHORA (the capital city). There are 150 permanent inhabitants in winter whereas in summer time the number increases to 350. It is a traditional settlement with a very fertile land, mostly filled with fruit-bearing trees. The olive mill is located in the centre of the village on the central road axis connecting Chora with the seaside settlement of APOLLONAS.

The museum is open from 2 May to 30 Sep, 10:00 am till 6:00 pm
